What is COVID-19 & its symptoms?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. There are Symptoms that are likely to be seen in COVID-19 Positive Patients.

    Most common symptoms include:
  1. Fever
  2. Dry cough
  3. Tiredness
    Some less common symptoms include:
  1. Aches and pains
  2. Sore throat
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Conjunctivitis
  5. Headache
  6. Loss of taste or smell
  7. A rash on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes
    Serious symptoms:
  1. Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
  2. Chest pain or pressure
  3. Loss of speech or movement
  4. Seek immediate medical attention if you have serious symptoms

On average it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

For securing Ourself from COVID-19 we have to take some Preventions:
  1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
  2. Maintain at least 1-meter distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.
  3. Avoid touching your face.
  4. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  5. Stay home if you feel unwell.
  6. Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
  7. Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

There are many Myths in our Mind related to COVID-19 its due to some unauthentic sources that create a fear and a misconception related to COVID-19. So let’s clear out some Myths:

Myths regarding COVID-19
  1. Drinking alcohol does not protect you against COVID-19 and can be dangerous.
  2. Thermal scanners CANNOT detect COVID-19
  3. Adding pepper to your soup or other meals DOES NOT prevent or cure COVID-19
  4. COVID-19 IS NOT transmitted through houseflies
  5. Spraying and introducing bleach or another disinfectant into your body WILL NOT protect you against COVID-19 and can be dangerous
  6. There are currently NO drugs licensed for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19

To be safe from COVID-19 we have to do preventions and taking care of health properly maintaining Social Distancing is most important in the present scenario. So we have to follow the instruction and prevention measures given by WHO and prevent our society from the COVID-19.
